  Principles that go beyond energy  
Part of the essence of AES’ business culture is its commitment to four shared principles: to act with integrity, fairness, fun and be socially responsible.

The company aims at sticking to these principles not as a way of reaching the economic success, but because the practice of this philosophy itself is worthwhile. However, if the company notes some conflict between the values and profits, AES will try to practice its values even if its result is affected and opportunities are lost because of that.

 
  Integrity 

To act with integrity or, in other words, in its wholeness. AES aims at meeting its engagements. Its objective has been to make that everything that is said or done by the AES people fit in truth and coherence.


 

  Social Responsibility  

The company lives up to its beliefs and with the responsibility to be involved in projects that bring social benefits like, for example, a fair price for the customer, a high degree of safety and reliability, jobs to thousands of people all over the world and a cleaner environment.

  Fairness 

AES’s wish has been to treat its people, customers, suppliers, shareholders, governments and the communities where it operates with fairness. Defining what is fair is almost always very difficult, but the company believes that it is useful to question itself about the relativity of fairness and action alternatives. AES tries to practice its belief that it does not need to take the best of each negotiation to the detriment of others.


 

  Fun  

The objective is that the people working at AES and interacting with it have pleasure in their jobs. The company aims at creating and keeping an environment in which every individual can develop the best use of his/her potentialities, talents and skills and, therefore, enjoy the time spent at the company.
